Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult
The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are protesting against some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are required to access certain guns.
Users have commenced resorting to personalized games made via Battlefield Portal to complete them, underscoring just how grueling these missions have become.
Comprehending BF6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of getting a dozen out of forty-one key firearms found within the game.
Several of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and only works at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Ridiculously Tough Mission
One more community participant highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with marksman guns
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and perhaps an additional option in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This means you can bypass the intended method⦠but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.
However, when tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for completing them in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Upcoming Tweaks
It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
For now, the community continues to share their thoughts on these challenging multiplayer missions, hoping for a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
